dnn is installing itself correctly. but after that, i can't connect to the website. any ideas?

ok, now it works. if you are using the 436 stater kit, you should NOT DISABLE the dynamic ports like written on michaels page. just add <add key="UsePortNumber" value="True" /> to the web.config .

My tutorial does not use the Starter Kit. My tutorial was designed to avoid the problems some people are having with the Starter Kit. The Starter kit is great and many people have used the tStarter Kit tutorial from my site and codeproject.com.

However there are people who have had problems installing the Starter Kt so I created these methods:

  • Setting-up the Environment (using IIS)
  • Setting-up the Environment (without IIS)
  • I hope you see that your statement " if you are using the 436 stater kit, you should NOT DISABLE the dynamic ports like written on michaels page" is incorrect because you should NOT be using the Starter Kit if following those directions.

    yes, sure. you are right.

however: in my eyes this error also occurs with the 436 install version. you have to add the line to the web.config if you are installing a new dnn based on 436 in vs 2005. i'm wrong?

I set up sites this way several times a week. If it does not work for you please indicate the exact step and the exact error you receive.
