I;m at my whits end I just cant get dnn to install.

I keep on getting this error

DotNetNuke Configuration Error

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Enable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

If using Windows 2000 - IIS5
- the {Server}\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website

If using Windows 2003 - IIS6
- the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website

=========================

I've tryed setting every account to full permissions but it stil dosnt work

I have other .net 2 application working on the server doing similar things as DNN but I dont understand why DNN wont work.

My server dosnt have a user account for {Server}\ASPNET but the account NETWORK (not Network services)  works for all the other .net applications

help please

Same problem...

Yesterday, I manage to make it working, following step by step tutorial with godaddy http://www.northernstarsolutions.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61

But today, I wanted to start from scratch, and it does not work anymore... :-((((   Yesterday, if I correctly remember, I construct each folder one after the other (giving the correct permission), uploading the files in each folder, one by one, step by step. At the end, I have uploaded the web.config file to the Config folder, and I have moved it to the root (because it was not working). And that makes it working... Today not....

I got it !!!!

Maybe it will help you ??
I was not waiting long enough for the permission to propagate (when creating virtual directory as explained here: http://www.northernstarsolutions.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61)
I have uploaded the web.config file in the Config folder, giving the virtual directory the correct permission, then, waiting long enough, moving web.config from Config to root.

And it works, everything is installing correctly, excepted a minor error:
00:00:08.031 - Upgrading to Version: 4.0.0 Error! (seed:\hosting\declic\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\04.00.00.log for more information)

Chaloum, is it ok for you ??? I redone the manipulation described here a second time, and it works.

Does anyone have an idea concerning the error:

00:00:08.031 - Upgrading to Version: 4.0.0 Error! (seed:\hosting\MYUSERNAME\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\04.00.00.log for more information)
