Hi all,

I didn't see any other reports on this so it may be me...

I downloaded the DNN 4.3.3 DB Reference from the Project Documentation page but when I open it I get an error saying "Navigation to the web page was cancelled".  If I try to display any other entries in the tree I get "This program cannot display the web page".  I get the same with the other CHM files.  I have tried downloading multiple times.

I have Microsoft HTML Help version 5.2.3790.2744 installed.

Anyone else run into this?  Is there a solution?

Thanks, Chuck

Hi Chuck,

I'm the author of said database reference/spec sheets. I have not had any complaints to date. I posted the latest build (4.3.6) the other day, perhaps you would have better luck with those. You can find them here.

Hi Chris, thanks for the quick reply.  As you suggested I downloaded the updated version from your website but I get the same messages.  I thought my HTML Help installation might be corrupt so I tried on a completely clean install of Windows-XP on another machine and I get the same results.  Strange!

If you think of anything please let me know.  I'll do the same.

Thanks, Chuck

Chris (and all that may be watching)...

I GOT IT!!!!  I searched my computer for other "*.CHM" files and found a bunch.  Attempts to open most of them worked fine.  I did, however, come across a couple of other files that the same thing happened to.

I checked the properties of one that works vs. the ones that didn't work looking for a difference and I found one.  On the "General" tab of the file properties for the files that were not working I found a comment at the bottom of the window with a security warning and an [Unblock] button.  I would attach a screen shot but apparently I can't.  I clicked the [Unblock] button, saved the change and open the file successfully.

Tuck that one away for future reference :-)

Regards, Chuck

P.S.  Thanks for making these -- they are VERY usefull!!!

CHM Files use an ActiveX control and when viewing across a network will also usually not work, due to normal security settings in IE. I found that out last year when I was creating chm files for the skinning documentation and didn't pick it up for a while. However, if you had downloaded and placed them on your desktop or another location on your hard drive, it may not have had this problem.

But yes, CHM files are very handy.

Thanks for doing these.
