Just to make sure this issue is excluded
My machine does not have any trace of ASP.NET version 1 on it - I assume that this should have no influence on the  matter

The source that you are basing your code off of is rather complicated, as it is trying to show all the different tabstrip rendering modes.  If I understand you correctly, all you want to be able to do is separate out your content into different tabs.  If that is the case then I would start with a much simpler example, or at least strip out all the extra javascript/rendering properties.  (Start simple, then work up from there).  That sample is in .NET to contrast the rendering with Atlas which requires .NET 2.x

As far as programmatically adding tabs, rendering tabs in different locations, etc.  This is planned to be worked on after I figure out all the plumbing for the dynamic loading of the tabs.  I still have quite a bit of work/research to do here though.

As I responded to your blog post, I am trying to get this control ready by late december, but things may slip as other priorities come up along with finding some freetime from my normal job.

I see the code it is reasonably complex.
Yes you have assesed my requirements correctly.
I looked at the simpler example but cant find the code to illustrate it anywhere - the 1.2 samples dont cover the tabstrip!?!
The issue I am having is through trying to implement  the code on a dotnetnuke page
All the code you supply has the control coded on an aspx page and this is fine until you are trying to get the tab click to actually work - This is stops functioning by the removal of the runat="server" which causes problems when loading the page as the error :
    A critical error has occurred.
A page can have only one server-side Form tag.

So this is my problem  ther must be a simple enough fix for it?

It sounds like you are still trying to have your TabRenderMode set to Callback...  If this is not necessary then change it to All.

Otherwise, I am going to have to suggest that you send me your module...  I have only done a little work (so far) in integrating the tabstrip into DNN, there are probably still some issues.

I have looked a bit further
and my fine friend firefox tells me:
Error: tabClick is not defined
Source File: http://localhost/DotNetNuke/js/dnn.controls.dnntabstrip.js
Line: 189

Clicking the load all button link (with the url path suitably modified to my orn page ) returns

1. InitializeNonTabControls
2. BindPage
3. >>> Render Size: 9174
4. SetupDefaults: tabGeneral
5. BindTab: tabGeneral (Delay 1secs)
6. SetupDefaults: tabAdvanced (Delay 1secs)
7. RefreshColors
8. BindTab: tabAdvanced (Delay 1secs)

I can send the ascx over  and the vb file no problem  - but I dont undertand why this is not working - am I overlooking something stupid in setting this up??? The aspx files are in my dnn root and work fine so the js file must be ok its just referencing them from an ascx in the folder Desktopmodules/MyModule/xxxx.ascx that has me baffled
