I've got my notification that the upgrade is available from the host settings page. I've tried the upgrade a couple of times in a acouple of ways and each time the upgrade fails. The first time, I tried to upgrade to 4.3.5. The install actually appeared to go smoothly but when I tried to go to the site from the install page (which, again said everything was okay) I recieved an error. My appologies but I did not record what the error was (perhaps I can try to be as vague as possible ). When I tried to upgrade to 4.3.6, the installation hung seemingly when it was dealing with the 4.3.5 information. There was no error reported, the process just froze.
The only thing that I can think of is that when I upgraded to 4.3.3, all went fine excpet there were now (and still remain) dual folder paths for each folder location. Ones that end with "\" and the same paths that end with "\\". I have found no way to get rid of this.
Could errors in the database (such as the "\\" above) cause the upgrades to fail?
If so, How do I fix the database if I am only using SQL Server Express?
What would someone need to see to diagnose this upgrade error aside from the initial error after the install?
I see in another post that a possible solution to their issue was to add a key to the web.config file. might this resolve my issue as well (again, i'm not sure if I could be more vague - sorry!).
The problem is that I am working with a production machine and the time to perform this kind of maintenance is afterhours. So, I have very little time to work on it before I must restore the site from a backup.
Any suggestions at all in how to diagnose the problem or how to get around this?
