There are many times that we would like to have the ability to access the text area with a call from JavaScript. We finally switched from FTB because it had no feature restriction like your basic template. We have many applications ,written in XMOD, where we need to limit the amount of characters (A article summary for example). We are forced to use the basic text area because we can call a character count JS script against it. Kind of sad because the user can't even make a paragraph break.

If we can't access the text area of FCK, can you give some thought to offering a max character option per instance?

TIA
Buck
