Hello !

I would like to chang the "Display email in profile page" option for all forum users. This is by defaut true, I want it to be by default "false" and change it for existing users. Where is this information stored in the db?

Thank you very much for any help!

Regards,

Fabian

In the initial release of the module the default was true, however, it was changed to default to false.  We changed it for concerns of privacy as many users of the module may not know it was defaulted to true.  As for where it is stored, this is a module setting.  The actual email address is pulled from the user's core profile.

Hi Crispy, thank you for you reply. I have some additional questions : 1) you say that the default value if the email is shown or not is a module setting. But I may not find it ! Could you give me a little help? 2) You say that the email address is in the profile - but where is stored the information wether the email should be shown or not? (I have 400 users and want them all hide their emails... urgent Thank you very much for any help! Regards, Fabian

1. I think number two will answer this one.

2. Email status (not address) is stored in the Forum_Users table.  (original email address of user profile is in Users table and also one of the aspnet_ tables for MemberRole)  I believe the second forum sqldataprovider script has the procedure to do this for you (ie. Update Forum_Users Set ShowEmail (whatever column name is) = False)

*** NOTE ****

In my previous post I called it a module setting.  That is not the case, it is a user setting
