Hello, I need to move two of my DNN 4 website databases from an external database server to MS SQL on the local webserver.  To make this move, do I just change the connection settings in the web.config file and move the database?

Thanks,

I am getting database connection errors when pointing to the database in its new location.  I copied the database using the Microsoft Sql Server Management Studio from one server to another, changed the IP address to (local), verified the permissions were correct with the new database server and the settings in the web.config file.  When I saved the settings in web.config, I had IIS stopped, then after its all complete, I started IIS, went to the IP address and then I get the database connection error.  Am I missing something?

What does the actual message say?

In the config file there are some commented out conenction strings for different databases types (express, 2000), what was the original server, and are you using the correct connection string syntex?

I am moving it from MS SQL 2005 Standard to MS SQL 2005 Standard, and I am keeping the connection the same except for the database location, DB name, Username, and Password.  For testing, I did a fresh install of DNN 4 next to this install, and it installed fine except for a wierd "rolls" error, but the site seems to be working.  Now, my existing site just doesnt seem to want to connect. to the database in the new location.

Maybe I copied the database wrong, what is the most desirable way in SQL std 2005?  I am more used to SQL 2000, and 2005 is messing me up some.
