I'm doing an install of DNN4.3.7 (Source) on Win XP Pro, IIS 5.1, .Net Framework 2.0 (VS2005), and when I go to install it from the browser, I'm getting the following error (see below).

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks!

Ellen

ok, I got the above to work -- I needed to create the DesktopModules folder.  Kinda bizarre.

Anyway, now I have a similar error on my web server, where I'm also doing a DNN 4.3.7 Source Install.  This is a Win2003 with IIS 6.0 with BOTH .NET Framework 1.1 (and our currently working DNN 3.1.1 application) and .NET Framework 2.0 installed.

I created a separate application pool and assigned it to my virtual directory, and set it for ASP 2.0.  As far as I can tell, I've done everything else in the Installation Guide that I can do.  When I browse to the site to install it, I'm getting this error (which oddly enough points to the .NET Framework 1.1):

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404.  The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /TestDNN4/Install/Install.aspx

I've unzipped the files again to replace them, and tried everything else I can think of.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Ellen

Are you new tro this product or just the 4.x version?

I am totally new and getting aggravated.  I am trying to do and install and have everything set like the install guide suggests, and it croaks everytime it get to the "Creating Portal" part.  Seems like There something wlse I need to configure, but I'm stumped as to what.

I hope you get your answer.

Scott

What is the physical location of the "DNN4UpdateMods" folder?  Is it in c:\inetpub\wwwroot or is it someplace else?  In other words, is it set up in IIS as a subfolder marked as an application, or is it a virtual directory?  Try moving the folder to another folder and recreating the Virtual Directory.

Are you getting this error for all pages?  Can you pull up default.aspx in the root of the application?

Scott - I know how you feel.... I'm new, too.  But I got the install to work locally on my dev pc.  Now it's the web host I'm having problems with.

Joeislove -

Please look at my second entry -- it's on the web host, and the directory TestDNN4 is a physical folder on the C: drive, as well as a virtual directory (a new website) in IIS pointing to the \Website folder of the TestDNN4 folder.

I've tried moving it, as well as going through the Install Guide again and creating a new one (which worked locally for me), and I'm still getting the error.  I can't pull up anything.  It hasn't gone through the Install yet at all.  And the wierdest part is the note about this being .NET 1.1, when I have this running in a .NET 2.0 app pool.

Please, any other guidance you can give would be greatly appreciated.  I'm burnt toast right now, and I really need this to work.

Thanks!

Ellen
