I was wondering if anybody uses 404 custom error pages to redirect users to the right pages.  My problem is that my client wants his URL of a page to be simple like http://www.mysite.com/page.  If I put a custom 404 page in place and set up a database of redirects, in theory I could have very elegant URL redirects.  Has anybody built something like this?  Is it a good idea or am I nuts?   I found a free module by slalom services but I cannot access their site in order to download it.  It just seems to me that  a well designed 404 error module would be a worthy addition to anybody.
