Hi

I have a website built for a local church. I have added all the Keywords and page descriptions on all pages of website. I also used the submit page to google link. I did this a month ago, since then have repeated the submit page buttons for each page in the website. But I can not get a search result from google at all for this website. I have tried on exact matches from my keyword list on the main page. I have even done a site name search as in site://lightoftheworldchurchpa.org but get no match at all.

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong or if there is something else I can do? I have other sites that I have not used this submit to google routine and they come up when doing a search?

You are right, submitting to Google is a waste of time.

What you want is for as many relevant sites as you can find with decent PageRank to link to yours.

And don't expect to get indexed overnight, it takes a while.

Also, I have heard it rumored that if you over-submit Google will look at it like spamming, but I think they just pretty much ignore it.

John's right... Do not oversubmit to google.  They will punish you for that.  I suggest going to their website and getting a free account and going to their webmaster tools and creating a sitemap for your website.  That will help.  Also, they have great forums over at google for just this kind of thing.  They were very helpful with my site and told me what I was doing wrong.

Beware: They will run an HTML Validator on your website to check for valid HTML specification and DNN is not compliant so they will blame it on that.  Trust me, it's not that.  You do need to be patient on indexing but create a sitemap and submit it.  That helps.

I've seen sites disappear from google when the submit to google option was used too often. I would vote to get that link removed from the page settings....

You have my vote on removing it from the settings pages.  I tried to bring this up before and it didn't get anywhere though.
