also, AFAIK Google pays no attention to keywords and description (as these were used extensively to spam ...). Just make sure your contains the text you want to be found on. If you enable the sitelog, you can see if google visits your site (look for googlebot).

I checked your site by mimicing googlebot (so you should at least see a few hits by me posing as googlebot ;)), your site looks fine to me.. just steer clear of the submit to google link and be patient...

Seems a bit unlikely that it would cause the page to drop from Google if it were over submitted - otherwise the unscrupulous could simply keep submitting their competitors pages.

I appreciate your help. I will build the site map and submit it that way, create some links from a few other sites and stay away from the googld submit button.

Thanks Again

This has been discussed in the core team chat today. The idea of a vote is taken over.. a small poll will ask people wether they think its a good idea to remove the link (when the poll is created i will put a link to it from here). To be complete, i will give a short summary on the subject.

The issue is the "Submit Page To Google" link on the page setting page:

When clicking a link, you are redirected to Google, the url is submitted, and you can read the following:

Your site URL has been successfully added to our list of URLs to crawl. Please note that we do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear.

The problem is this: while it could be usefull to submit your site to Google (by using the "Submit Site To Google" link in Admin > Site Settings, it seems strange to submit a single page. The reasoning is that it would be pointless to ask Google to visit a page that cannot be reached by your regular visitors (ie. invisible pages and restricted pages). On the other hand.. if a page is visible, and publicly available, it will be found by Google anyway.

There seems to be some evidence that Google will punish you if you submit your site too often. Oziweb has a good point that this could be done by your "not so nice" competitor...

A smaller problem is that the link to Submit your page to Google will open Google in the same window, taking you away from your site.

The bottom line is: it would be better to remove the link all together, so portal admins, and page editors, will not be able to inadvertedly submit their pages too many times. Removal will not have a negative impact, because pages will still be found by Google, and it should be enough to just submit your portal.

Another good thing to do is to submit your site to http://DMOZ.org, this is a free internet index, used by many search engines as a starting point to indexing "the internet". If your site is in there, it will be visited by a lot of search bots....
