I have been pounding on this application for days and searching all the posts and blogs and there is no answer to even other users problems with installing DOTNETNUKE 4.3.6. and SQL2000 Issues with Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

It doesn't work and the document that is refernced in the install to get for more detail installation instructions doesn't even exist.

This post will probably get deleted as they dont even seem to know there own application or even how to write a detailed installation document.

I cant believe Microsoft even promotes this site on the .net site in Msdn.

Hey Tom!

I have installed a lot of sites with DNN and hardly ever see problems. What package did you use and OS do you run?

The error message you've given is too vague and common to be at all helpful. More information is needed. DNN 4.3.6 runs fine against Sql 2000. Can you get to the Log Viewer (Admin/Log Viewer) and provide a more detailed error message?

Tom,

I have install DNN many times from V2.04 thru to current.. all install as expected ( beta may be bumpy - but I don't count them).   I can typically install a default DNN site in under 10 minutes. I have had some issues that are typically local issues .

Recently, ran into a verify similar problem .... I tried everything I could think off.... finally, I restored the BIN directory from the DNN Install Zip.   Rebooted and bingo!  Installed as expected.

So, try unzipping a clean install kit and try again.  Good Luck.

Hope this helps... Paul.
