Can someone help me with AD Authentication errors that I'm getting..

First
enabling the module gives me the following error:

Accessing Global Catalog:
OK
Checking Root Domain:
OK
Accessing LDAP:
FAIL
Find all domains in network:
Could not access LDAP to obtain domains info
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted

This is a w2k member server of the domain. It is logged into the domain. No the odd thing is that AD Authentication actualy works.. I can log in as domain\user and it will pull my user info from the domain and sync my roles. So it works in spite of the error..

Second

I followed the directions for the web.config and uncommented:

<add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" />

I have unchecked the anonymouse access to windowssigning.aspx and checked integrated windows authentication and I have added my site to the ie intranet sites. but Autologin does not occur. if I navigate to http://sitename/admin/security/windowssignin.aspx I get the following error:

Error while processing Windows Authentication
Check your IIS settings. Admin/Security/WindowsSignin.aspx should NOT allow anonymous access.

I have set the entire site to not alow anoymous access and still get this error.. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks - Mark

Part 1 of your post I've seen before. I was running into the same problem until I found the impersonate line in the web.config and uncommented that line only and added userName="domain\user" and password="XXXX" to it (using a valid username and password of course). I also had to give that user the same rights I was giving the ASPNet account to the directory structure. I think it may also solve your second problem as well (because a valid domain user is now querying the AD) but I'm not positive.

Mike,

Thanks so much for your help! The identity key solved the first problem.

Unfortunately it did not solve the second problem. http://sitename/admin/security/WindowsSignIn.aspx still produces the following error:

Error while processing Windows Authentication
Check your IIS settings. Admin/Security/WindowsSignin.aspx should NOT allow anonymous access.

I have confirmed that WindowsSignIn.aspx has the following:

  • Anonymous Access UNCHECKED
  • Integrated Windows Authentication CHECKED

Any suggestions on how to trouble-shoot this?

That one I don't have an answer for.
