Hi,
I´ve previously upgraded DNN a few times between version, and it has worked each time with a little extra push and shoving..

But now I am trying to upgrade a 4.03 to 4.3.7, and I have stumbled upon a problem that I have no clue how to solve..

I made a backup (allways does), and renamed my web.config file.
I then unpacked the install package over the existing installation.
I renamed the release file and edited it with my old connections string, machine code, and some small changes to password lenghts and such.  Also checked the object qualifier string.
I checked that the autoupdate was set, and open my browser locally to navigate to the portal.

It opened the portal as normal, without any upgrade information!
As this has happed before, I was not to worried, so I tried to start the upgrade manually with the
/Install/Install.asx?mode=upgrade
Nothing happend.
I tried again.
Nothing happend.
I tried installing resourses the same way
Nothing happend.

I can browse the portal, log in and all, but it is still 4.03, and no upgrade.

What can I do ?

Thanks for all the great work, keep it up!

Best regards,
David

I really don't think this is the problem, but just in case, also copy your old:     <add key="InstallationDate" value="12/15/2006" />
Are you sure e.g. the dotnetnuke.dll version on your /bin folder is 4.3.7.xxx ? (check its properties, assembly version)

select * from {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}Version ,     throws any light into this?

make sure, you unzipped into the correct directory.

I've just tried to upgrade from a version 3.x to to 4.3.7 and updated the web.config file. I'm getting the error

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
(provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I've checked my settings and am able to log on to my hosted SQL server, so I'm not sure why it's throwing this error.

Anyone else get this? Any suggestions?

Amy

Hi DMR,

This may or may not be relevant, but I had a similar problem when upgrading my live site. Turned out that a visitor had got the page and clicked upgrade ... The upgrade has other problems which may or may not have been related, but needless to say when I re-attempted the upgrade, I set IIS to deny access to all except my IP address :-)

Cheers,

Matt
