Unfortunately, I have not experienced the problems you just posted.  I had simply remembered the "cannot move categories" post elsewhere in the forum.

Hopefully, someone more experienced with the Help module and it's underlying implementation will show up here.

I can't wait for 3.0 of the Help module.  I'm hoping it'll greatly improve on the stability of the Help module.  Unfortunately, it is more likely to completely break the Help module on my site.  But, that will not be much worse than it already is.

I hope so. Waiting for the new release, I have started from scratch, and now everything is solved (for the moment...).
