Ok, I figured out how to get the DNS issue to resolve for the DotNetNuke site.  The site will not show up and I found out that it is the fact that "default web site" under IIS was not pointed to the correct directory.   I tried to point it to the directory, but it seems that it has to be a virtual directory.  Every time I try to add a virtual directory to the "Default Web Site"  It just creates a child directory.  How would I get the "Default Web Site" to point to the virtual directory so I can get the naming to work?  I want to get this done without the use of a redirection html file.

I need to get this done so I can get this live.  PLEASE oh PLEASE help!!!!

Maybe you could add a Portal Alias for your site to point to the Virtual Directory...

1) Create a folder where dnn will be, any name will do

2)right-click folder and select web sharing, type in name of web site

3)select security tab, add asp.net user or network service user depending on what your os is(Network service if 2003) give that user full control

4) go to IIS, select your new web site folder, go to properties, set proper version of asp.net, set default doc to default.aspx

5) Configure your web.config with the proper db connectivity

6)browse to site, installation will occur then link you to the home page.

The problem I am having is that I cant seem to get the default site to point to the directory like I can the virtual directory.  The IP address is the 12.27.134.166/dnn and I am tring to get it to be 12.27.134.116.  The next step would be to then change the header to work with dev.hyper.com.  I cant seem to get the DNS name to work and the default web site to be the virtual directory.  How do I accomplish this????

on the default site properties, you can set the ip adresss and to get it to point to a folder and you can browse to a Home Directory to browse to a folder.  Im sure you tried that, that doesnt work?
