I can't seem to find out what the problem is after searching the forum. ugh.

Please help if you see what I missed out here. THX!

1) The error message is either:
Error Installing DotNetNuke
Current Assembly Version: 04.03.07
ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

or

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

2) I have tried accessing the SQL Server using dnnadmin/dnnadmin1 and it works. dnnadmin was given db_owner role and schema access in DotNetNuke database.

3) Here are my settings/environment:
##############################################
# My web.config
##############################################
<connectionStrings>
 <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=dnnadmin;pwd=dnnadmin1;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
<appSettings>
<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=dnnadmin;pwd=dnnadmin1;"/>
......
</appSettings>
##############################################
# SQL Server
##############################################
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X86)

4) 'Full Control' permission was granted to ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE in DotNetNuke directory for IIS

5) 'IIS Execute Permissions' was set to 'Scripts and Executables'. Application Protection: Medium (Pooled)

6) IIS ASP.NET version was set to 2.0.50727.

Did I miss out anything?

Got it to work after spending 2 nights. And yes, it is just a 5 mins thing if done correctly.

To keep the problem short, I got confused with my SQL Server version (Express vs Dev/Standard/Entreprise) installed long time ago.

Apologise for the ranting above. =P
