Hi

Here is the bug list I've found in DNN Forum:

#1. Column "Started" has the same content with column "Last Post".
#2. Most of the time column "Views" has values smaller than "Replies". 25 replies, 3 views. Hmmm.
#3. Some of the threads do accurately count their own posts, and users can see "Page 3 of 2". In this example, while on page2, there is no link to page 3. People have to click on forum title, then go to thread title and click 3 there.
#4. My Posts shows all the posts, no matter if I posted there or not.
#5. Entering "less than" and "greater than" characters are considered to be part of html tags and whatever it's in between is not shown.
#6. What's new scroller does not show what's new. I have defined 3 forum groups, and what's new shows only 2 or three messages from first group. Nothing else.
#7. Threads containing unread messages are not bold. All of then use normal font, and looking at thread list there is no way to know which contains unread posts. I have to open them one by one and look at the end (remember Last post doesn't work? i can't use it as hint)

When will these be solved? I am using DNN 3.1.0. Any ideas?

Lots of these bugs were fixed in the current release available.  I am guessing you are using an older version.  More important than the DNN version for these posts is the module version.  The current release is 03.10.04.

Using 3.10.04 and still have a list of bugs:

  1. If I subscribe to a forum, and I receive a mail from a multi-page message, clicking on "you can see the original thread here" takes me there, on first page, but there are no links to page 2,3, whatever. I have to click on thread's title in order to make those links to show up.
  2. Forum keeps reattaching previous attachments. Have a look here: http://www.profox.ro/Forum/tabid/55/forumid/4/threadid/3015/scope/posts/Default.aspx. The attachments are a real mess, and the problem is I can't delete them - they keep appearing every time.
  3. Clicking on user names in top ten gets me to an empty page. Do it and check for yourselves. Click on my name (i'm first in top 10).
  4. Clicking on most active thread and most popular thread takes me to home page instead the thread. The link is: http://www.profox.ro/Home/tabid/36/forumid/2/threadid/2348/scope/posts/Default.aspx and it should have been http://www.profox.ro/Forum/tabid/55/forumid/2/threadid/2348/scope/posts/Default.aspx. You definately have a problem in generating the correct link.
  5. If I change the alias, I can't change it back unless I change it directly into database. Forum doesn't help.

Guys. While I appreciate your efforts, the forum is not what I would have expected from a forum. It has bugs so obvious that I wonder if anyone bothers to test the code before releasing (remember forgetting loading the user profile, thus freshly registered users could not post in forum? that is NOT circumstantial - it happens every time. I had to dig in forums and find on someone's site a fixed dll. Well... it was your job, not his).

I had a look into the MSSQL database. Why on earth if I change manually the alias (Update the forum users table) the update doesn't show unless I go back in forum and I update my profile again? (using the forum to reverting a changed alias doesn't work - as I said at #5). Are you duplicating the information somewhere?

For these reasons I have decided to give up using DNN and DNN forums. I'll move to PHP - at least they bother to check their releases.

Thank you very much. I've put a lot of work into this website and all I got is nothing. At this moment site is virtually locked - after upgrading to DNN 3.2.0 I can't add/edit/delete pages in website - I access Page management, add the page, and when I click update it says "Page management is unavailable". Really????????? It was available several seconds before!!!!!! So I'm stuck with what I've got. No, thank you. I'm moving forward and I strongly advise anyone here to do the same.

Why are you giving me a list of bugs of an outdated release?

I am glad you are moving on to another project if this is the attitude and thanks.  There are plenty of resources avialable to you and yet this is how you choose to make use of them.
