I posted a work-around that will actually perform much better here:

DotNetNuke Modules from Snapsis.com

Hi All,

I've just been experimenting with the new settings in 4.4 and I can change doc types successfully. - I've just loaded up a skin that uses the HouseMenu and for the module menus it uses the drop down list
[DROPDOWNACTIONS] - any container that uses this token gets the following error, if I replace this token with [SOLPARTACTIONS] it displays ok without any problems - is this a new bug for 4.4?:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.DropDownActions.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Hi Lee,

I had exactly that issue using the starter kit of 4.4.0. When I went to figure out what was wrong by compiling and running the source code version, guess what? It went away. My solpart free skins are fine again.

I think there is  a problem with the reference to the DNNDropDownNavigationProvider.

Cheers

Tim

Hi,

I’m also trying to use a solpart free skin because it causes bugs in my CSS and JavaScript. The DropDownActions menu works fine on my localhost which is an upgrade from 4.3.6, but I’m getting that same error on my hosted site which is an upgrade from 4.0.2. I could bother my host and ask them to do as you said but I’d like to try and resolve this on my own first. Would some DNN guru please tell me if there is another way that I resolve this? Would replacing the DotNetNuke.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider.dll possibly work or would doing that cause the portal to malfunction? Or is there something I could do in the web.config? Any clues as to how I can resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dathan

P.S. This guy is also having the same problem which noone has responed to: (posted 1/13/2007 8:45:48 AM)
