Just performing a test upgrade to version 4.4.0. However if I have the account login module on a page, the title of the page gets changed to 'User Account'. I tend to have this module on my home page, and of course it doesn't look to good with this as a title.

I had a look in  signin.ascx.vb and the following code has been added in version 4.4.0 (or at least it isn't in 4.3.7) in the Page_Init handler. Not sure why, so can't figure out what should be changed to handle the condition it is in there for.

            'Override the redirected page title
            Dim myPage As DotNetNuke.Framework.CDefault
            myPage = CType(Me.Page, CDefault)
            myPage.Title = Localization.GetString("ControlTitle_login", Me.LocalResourceFile)

Cheers
Roger

Roger,

I believe I understand why it was put in, if you load the signin control through the Login token, then it masks the name of the page your signin control just loaded on. However, for those instances where the sign is a "permanent" control, such as a home page, then it does mask the home page title. Not a solution that fits all needs.

Good news is you can just comment that section of code out and rebuild. I have had no issues with doing so.

Thanks Chris. By the way, I don't think you need to rebuild. Looks like it is just compiling on demand. Just edit, and go.

I got the same problem; the title of my homepage actually is "User Account".
I don't want to change the code so I will probably remove the User Account module from my homepage.

Anyway, I think many portals use to have username/password textboxes in the homepage; I do not understand why this has changed in 440

NO DOUBT!!!  What exactly is the logic in this?  I about came unglued when I just noticed that my home page displayed the Title "User Log In", especially when this tag (the <TITLE> tag) is used so heavily with Google's search engine listings.  Do you know how many DNN users have a login module on their home page, and how many potential SE Listings this could possibly affect?

I don't know... this just seems like a step back here.  Why exactly was this done?  For now, I have stripped out this code in the /admin/security/signin.aspx.vb file for ALL of my sites.  It just makes no sense to me why this was done.

At first, I was in such a state of panic that I removed the login module from the home page, created another page for login, just to restore my title, especially since I recently achieved #1 listings in Google for my site for my targetted keywords.  If you care to look:

http://www.guestology.com  - Currently #1 on Goolge & Yahoo for "guest response software" and "guest comment software", which was why this was so important for me.  I do like my new "Login" & "Register" buttons though, so, maybe this was a blessing in disguise.

This was a pretty major BUG though, that's for sure.  At least it was easy to fix.  I do enjoy DNN a lot, as do my clients, so a BIG thank you to the entire DNN development team.  I do see quite a few very beneficial features I will be making use of with the new 4.4.0, like the "Copy permissions to descendants:" feature.  That is HUGE for me.

Thanks for reading and listening everyone!
