Thanks Erik
I will take your advice.
Of course I know better than to ask when 4.4.1 may be available ????

Actually, that's a fair question... no print and no RSS for anonymous users is significant.

Time-frame ideas?

Uggghhh. I wish I would have found this post before I upgraded to 4.4.0. (is there anyway to rollback to a previous version???)

What, exactly, will show up in the actions menu for unathenticated users when the fix is applied? Is the fix going to open up another can of worms?

[edit]

This also happens with an authenticated user on one of my child portals.

"can of worms" is only relative of course.. if you are a bird you'd be able to do some fine worm eating

The fix means that ALL actions users have permissions to see to in ALL locations where actions are displayed will be visible to that user (which is IMHO the way it always was supposed to work). The implication of this is that if you enable Print and / or RSS actions on a module, that module will not only show the corresponding action buttons, but also the Action menu with the Print and /or RSS actions. Not sure if you should call that a can of worms.. but it will impact the way your site looks
