I know this sounds dumb but still have to ask :

This is used to retrieve the current portal alias : PortalController.GetCurrentPortalSettings.PortalAlias.HTTPAlias
Then what is used to retrieve the Host portal alias?

For example, when using a sub-portal name http://localhost/test , I must replace its picture link from http://localhost/test/Portals/1/picture.gif to http://localhost/Portals/1/picture.gif in order to display that picture properly,  since the link is controlled by the code above.

Many thanks for who can help me out!

The Host HttpAlias is retrieved the same way as any alias.  The alias is only used internally to tell DotNetNuke which portal context is being requested so that it can apply security, etc.

Links for all resources in the website are relative to the root of the website.  You shouldn't need to get the alias to properly build links to resources unless maybe you are trying to determine without a request on the url what a link may look like for other portals in the system that are using different aliases.

Let me know more about what you are trying to accomplish and I'll try to help further.

What I want to do is making the Foto Vision module to work in subportals. You can get the module here

When placing this module on a host portal (for example http://localhost/mysite), the pictures are displayed correctly because their links are : http://localhost/mysite/Portals/0/pictures.jpg

But when placing it on a subportal, such as  http://localhost/mysite/test, the pictures links are http://localhost/mysite/test/Portals/1/pictures.jpg, so they can't be displayed.

After digging in the code, I think the problem is the Portal Controller method which this module use to retrieve the current Portal alias. Maybe I'm wrong because I DON'T know how to code. I'm just a regular user anyway

If you have time, please have a look. I desperately need this module for my project.

Thankyou very much!

AFAIR it is a stated issue, that the module does not work in sub-portals.

Ok, I'll take a look when I get the chance.  You might also try to contact the developer of that module.
