Thanks for all the help, but I think we have a communication gap going here. I understand what the download package is &  I have the download package for DNN 4.x .

However, I can not find the documentation within it that describes how to modify existing modules so they will apply globally across the site. I just need to know the name of the file that describes this - the name of the path within the download package would be great.

They have the download broken down for 4.4 and 4.3 on http://www.dotnetnuke.com/About/Downloads/tabid/125/Default.aspx, but the installation we have is 4.02. Does anyone have documentation for that or could tell me the name of the file/path within my zipped download package that contains this documentation?

The documentation is included in a separate download and is NOT part of the actual installation or source code packages.  The documentation download only includes PDFs of various documents.  One of those documents is called "DotNetNuke Skinning.pdf".
