In the sourcecode of the html page (that one sent to me by dnn) the same code is like:

Any suggestions? Do I have to do some db manipulating for making this work without uploading the skin in a zip file?
Hi there

I have some Problems with my Skin. It doesnt show the contentpane and any other panes that i made. I made the skin directly as a ascx file:

You need to change what you have writen a little so it is visible. give ita gap - something like
< script > or the end bit
< /script >

Also, have a look at the HTML example. and you will find so long you keep the content pane structhre the same

something like

< td width="182" valign="top" class="ContentPane" id="ContentPane" runat="server" visible="false" >< /td>

Upload it to your portal, and see how the portal parse the html to make the correct ASCX file.

So - there is nothing written in the database? I can just go on writing my .ascx file, save it in the right folder and its gonna work?

btw. i took my ascx file and removed all dnn controls, saved it as .htm, zipped it and uploadet it as any other skin - and it worked! Since then, i can alter the ascx file and it still works :)

Yes, basically you can just edit the ASCX file and it'll make those changes live on your site. The only thing to watch out for though, if you modify ASCX files, then reparse your SKIN the HTML file will get converted to the ASCX again, most likely losing any ASCX changes you made if you didn't backport them to the HTML file as well.
