Thanks for these two answers. Nevertheless, I am not experiences enough to understand your reply. Would it be possible to have additionnal explanations, or is it too difficult for a beginner like me ?

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Sebastian Leupold who already answered a LOT of questions with success (and few others also!!). Be sure that I have already compiled a "manual for beginners" which will be soon available to help users like me who begins and who do not know where to find the correct answer (it seems that DNN is for developper or experienced users. People like me have difficulty to start, and I had the idea to compile all the answers for beginners). Maybe it will help ?

Declic, the new release will be accompanied with an updated documentation, and Sebastian did some major steps in improving the interface. A lot of features are indeed not quite easy for beginners, for example calculated columns; though it is quite more simple to write a calculated column expression than to write own code.

Our replies were surely not dedicated for beginners, you need some programming experience to follow these steps. We were talking about changing the code, it is not a simple or advanced setting. Your idea would be a nice enhancement, it is a challenge to solve it without getting into some general performance issues. So we encourage everybody in writing an enhanced datatype, maybe someone will surprise us with a nice solution.

Ok, thanks a lot for the answer. I will forget, I am not experienced enough.
Do you have any other third party solution to provide to accomplish what I would like to have ? Or with an existing module ?? I have looked into Documents module, to see if it was possible to have the # download, but the problem is the same. Not possible... :-( Any third party module for doing this would be welcomed !

What I do is I use a link module. For the link type I specify a file. So then the Links module uses URLTracking for tracking the number of clicks... I then use my AdvancedDataGrid to display the number of downloads. You can see the results in the grid at the bottom of this page.

Very interesting, I will investigate this way (but I would have prefered a number of download directly near the document).
