Hi,

My query is in regard to module development. I was developing a module that uses a number of different templates that are loaded to construct the layout with token replacement.

Depending on the options selected in the module I would load and cache the html template(s) in case they are called again during the construction of the html that is to be displayed.  I thought this would be more effective instead of doing a physical read everytime the same template is called as there maybe numerous templates used.  (I use this specifically in datalists during the ItemDataBound event).

This works just fine as expected. :-)

This was my understanding for the construction of the content for the module everytime it is loaded.

Then I though I could set the Cache time interval for the module in Module settings.   But this stops dnn responding.

Does the internal caching of objects within the construction of my content interfer with the actual module caching?

If so, how can I handle the internal caching the first time the module is called?

Thanks for any help.

Colin

The way the Module caching works is if the cache time out is set to non zero then the module is not executed but the HTML it generated in a previous execution is displayed.

using caching inside your module should not interfere with the module caching.  With the cache time set the module will not execute and you cant debug it unless you are logged in as admin or host.
