I have two database in the server, SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I would like to know how the dnn connect to 2000 rather than 2005?

you can use both similarily using "classic" connection string as shown in release.config file (commented version of connection string).

Maybe let me rephase the question

I have two databases in the server, SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Both instances are running and if i do not close the Server 2000, error of unable to connect database will occur. I would like to know how  the dnn can connect to 2005 rather than 2000?

I have several PCs with SQL2000 and Express installed simultaniously and connection works without problems. There might be an issue with your installation, e.g. both products being installed as default instance.
