I'm in the process of porting a portal across from 3.2.2 to 4.4.0.  I have loaded my skins and set defaults in site settings for the portal and admin skins (both site not host).  This all works fine and my skins display.

When I revist site settings and hit update, the skins disappear and the <not specified> is displayed in the fields.  When I hit update again, the skins reappear with the correct values in site settings.  I can happily reproduce it without exiting site settings, just hitting the update link and they come and go.

Has anyone come across this or have a solution?  The rest of the install seems fine.

Thnks

Not sure if this helps but I had a similar problem on an upgrade from 4.35 to 4.4.
Looking at my FTP logs I saw that a couple of files in the Admin folder had errors against them although the files looked the same I uploaded the entire admin folder again and restarted dnn.
This seems to have cured the problem which in my case was the abilty to define skins at a page level but those set at admin of host did not update or "stick".
Hope this works for you.

thnks betacam.  unfortunately I can no longer reproduce the problem, but I suspect it's going to jump up and bite when I least suspect it.  There are a few similar reports in Gemini but none of them seem to have a clear diagnosis

Hi Caroig
Yes it is a strange one. I did actually check dll versions as that has sometimes tripped me up on an upgrade.
This problem does seem to go away after some persistence - not sure if it was what I did or what I was "saying" about it at the time that fixed it.
A site I had this problem on has been fine since dec 26 so once its working . . .
I guess we will see.
By the way - can you see RSS or PRT icons when not logged in as an admin as this is the other skin related issue from this release when upgrading ?

Unfortunatley I had to revisit my skins and have experienced the problem again.  So I set the skins in sitesettings and hit update: - the old skins are displayed.  I hit update again and this time the new skins are displayed.  The problem is that  "after some time" the settings revert back to the old skin.

Looking in the skins table, the table is not modified by the update on site settings, I guess the values must be held in cache.

I've manually modified the table to update the skin setting - for now that seems to work.

Betacam, the rss + prt icons are not displayed but that is logged as a bug.
