On root portal (4.3.6) all of a sudden no files are availble via modules nor do images display, even after logged in as host.

However, if I upload an image, then I can see that which I just uploaded available via the Media module for example.

In the file manager, the differences I see are the code "A" after the files I just uploaded and which are visible, and "ARHS" after all those which I used to be able to see but no longer can.

How did this happen? And how do I fix the file system so that all files are available to admins and host without setting each and every folder permissions to "all users?"

well ... I resynched and the A remained on the new files, but the ARHS disappeared from the others - and other missing files re-appeared. Curious as to why they got un-resynched in the first place ... I have done a lot of manual resynching lately to try to get this fixed.

How to allow admins to view, upload and select files from site settings and module interfaces? (They can upload via file manager but not put them to use in modules - "You do not have permissions to view files on this site" in site settings for logo and bg image.)

Setting view permissions on each and every folder to "all users" fixes this but that can't be the required fix ...

Anybody know?
