I have two DNN sites hosted with GoDaddy - one 4.4.0 nad one 4.3.7. Both load painfully slowly. They seem much slower than 3.x versions. I've experimented with the performance settings without much luck. My question - does anyone have experience with Go Daddy? Is it the host or jsust DNN? With a tool like Page Blaster speed them up?

Both sites are in developement but if I was a broswer to a live site, I wouldn't wait the 1+ minutes just to get a home page to load.

one possible reason: DNN uses a lot of caching - this needs memory, otherwise RAM is swapped to disc and this slows down significantly.

Sebastian,

I use a brand new Fujitsu-Siemens Econel 200R, with 2 gb ram, 500 gb hard drive and must say I find DNN enoying slow.

Hi Amy,

I have heard that complaint about performance at GoDaddy before.  It's understandable because you are sharing that server with potentially 1000's of other websites.

PageBlaster will help though, along with lots of other performance improvements you can find at My Blog.

Drop me a note if you would like me to take a look at your site and make some recommendations.

Tomas,

do you measure each page or only first startup. Please have a look at the performance posts in the blog of Charles Nurse, that might also guide you how to speed up your portal.
