Hello everybody.

I have a DNN 4 installation running on a web server placed in my company DMZ. The server is sitting there because it needs to be accessed both by company users (from our LAN) and Internet users. The server is not part of the company domain. Still, from the web server I can access the domain resources providing the correct path, username and password. So far, I have not been able to setup the dotnetnuke AD authentication module to work in this confiuration. Everything works smoothly when the web server is part of the domain, but this is not my scenario.

Has anyone experience in this kind of configuration? Is it possible to use the AD authentication (for local LAN users) even on machines not part of a domain?

Could anyone give me a detailed step-by-step configuration procedure?

Thank you very much.

Can you give a domain user permissions on a directory on your server? If so then you could try using impersonation. There's a line in your web.config that's commented out that reads <identity impersonate..... />. Uncomment that line only and set it up like the following: <identity impersonate="true" userName="DOMAINT\username" password="password" />. You'll also have to give this user the same rights on the server as the ASPNET/Network Service account which is why I asked if you could give a domain user rights on directories. I don't know if this will work for sure but it's something I had to do on our webserver that's out in the DMZ though it is part of the domain.

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately I cannot use impersonate with a domain user that is not "seen" by my web server. It simply fails authentication. And, of course, I cannot add a domain user to the web server because it is not part of the domain.

Any other suggestions?
