Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced problems with the values "aux" and "con" (console) as QueryString values when using DNN and the DNNFriendlyUrl?

We are receiving 404 errors when these values are included in the QueryString, its even reproduceable on this site (note the subject/con toward the end of the url):

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/scope/threadsearch/fromdate/39060/todate/39092/pagesize/10/subject/con/currentpage/2/Default.aspx

I'm assuming its something to do with the aux and con values (auxiliary and console) triggering some behaviour in the web server.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe.

interesting, not one I've seen before. A bit of googling suggests that they're DOS reserved words for folder names (http://www.kbalertz.com/279868/Using.reserved.names.codes.Systems.Management.Server.aspx and http://blogs.clearscreen.com/migs/archive/2004/11/19/601.aspx . I've created an issue for this @ http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=4774

just realised that this can probably be fixed by extending the regexMatch parameter in the DNNFriendlyUrl node to ignore cases where those words are used. I'm not very good at regular expressions, i'll see if i can find someone else to work it out.

Hi Cathal,

Thanks for your response, and raising an issue for it!

I shall have a look into the regex myself :)

Thanks again,

Joe.

I've checked into this a bit more and it looks like it may be caused by the caching model. In 4.4 the default is disk based caching (host->host settings->performance settings), so I suspect when the structure is created for the cache, this causes the issue. The fix will still be the same in all likelyhood, but if you could alter your caching model to memory to test if this is the issue, it would be helpful for our analysis.
