I am taking over admin/dev responsibilities for a 3.2 DNN site.  I have .NET2.0, VS2005, and SQL2005 running locally, so think that means I can't develop the 3.2 site unless I upgrade it to 4.  I believe I need to:

Set up DNN locally, but which version should I install, and should I install the source package?

get(install?) the actual site I'm taking over

Upgrade it to DNN 4

Move it to a new shared host.

Can someone give me a suggestion on the correct plan of attack here?

Thank you so much for helping me get started!

I'm assuming you don't have VS2k3 and .Net 1.1 as an option? If that's the case, then you've got a few options.

What are you needing to do with the site? Just maintain it? Or develop for it? Are there any custom modules developed for it that you're going to have to modify?

If you're just going to maintain the site, through the web browser, you don't likely need to setup VS2k5, or possibly even set it up locally.

If you need to setup a development environment and customize modules, there are still multiple ways you can go about it, depending on how the original modules were developed.

If you can provide more information I'll see how else I can help.

I'm just working with VS2005 and 2.0, though I think I can run 2005 against 1.1, but let's not go that route unless required.

It does have custom modules that I need to import from the 3.2 version and continue developing as needed.  So you say there are multiple ways to setup, depending on how the original modules were developed.  What next?

Hey, thanks for helping.
