I also, have just run into this one this morning. Our requirement is to allow "moderators" to edit articles, in addition to the original contributor.

I sure wish the search function for the forums worked properly. Anyhow I found this which solves the issue:

Did anyone ever suggest a way around this? I must admit that I wasn't aware of this behaviour and assumed the edting rights for articles would be role based. I should really remember that assumptions = loads more work!

Nonetheless, I really need to be able to allow members of the same role group to be able to edit articles. If anyone has a solution, please could you let me know?

It's fixed in the next release which is going through release testing now.
