Hi,

Is it possible to include a setting in the forum management whereby one can choose a different date format than the default which is currently used (USA).

I have received this request from numerous users on my site as we use a different date format dd-mm-yyyy locally.
It is confusing the hell out of some of the local users of the site who are not used to foreign date formats.

If there is already such a feature available I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know how to do this without tampering with the module code. I do not want to do this in order to be able to upgrade to new releases as soon as they become available.

Thanks,
Deon

The date format is actually controlled by the core. Others have added language packs that handle this (Core language packs) and the module will switch formats when these are added and used.

I needed to change the date format to be dd/mm/yyyy and I did it in web.config
Look at line
<globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en" requestEncoding="UTF-8" responseEncoding="UTF-8" fileEncoding="UTF-8" />

and change it to

<globalization culture="en-GB" uiCulture="en" requestEncoding="UTF-8" responseEncoding="UTF-8" fileEncoding="UTF-8" />

Thanks CGIT,

That seems to have done the trick !

I now have receive a totally unrelated problem when trying to access Admin - Site Settings :

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: c:\domains\durbanvale.com\wwwroot\Admin\Portal\SiteSettings.ascx.vb(786): error BC30516: Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'UpdatePortalInfo' accepts this number of arguments. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: c:\domains\durbanvale.com\wwwroot\Admin\Portal\SiteSettings.ascx.vb(786): error BC30516: Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'UpdatePortalInfo' accepts this number of arguments. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I have encountered this problem before on a different live DNN installation so I think it is unrelated. Funny thing is, it resolved itself after a while. Maybe an IIS restart is required? Anybody out there encountered this exception as well?

As for the languages, because I cannot change the default language for the portal as mentioned above, I receive a dropdownlist next to the 'Search' boy listing the avaliable languages. Selecting the correct one displays the date in the correct date format so this is a start at least.

Thanks for your help on the web.config suggestion -I spend hours looking through the language pack editor trying to locate the format but could not find it, until your post helped me out.

The loss of site admin settings worries me a bit though.

Kind regrds,
Deon Pretorius
