Hello All,

I need to work with the forum module in Hebrew and Arabic. I downloaded the DNN Hebrew version and there is no translation for the forum module. I translated the module resx files. I also entered in the skin and container - dir="rtl". But there are many elements in the forum that are left alignment. Is there a simple way to work with right alignment? What do I need to do? Is there a switch between left and right languages?

If there is no easy way to go from left languages to right languages, what is the hard way? Go over the ascx files and change every file alignments?

Thanks in advance for your help
Nir

Right now there is no easy way to do this. Even in the next version, it will not be easy. I plan on tackling this issue when the skinning enhancement is underway. It's not that I don't want to handle this now, its just I had many other items I have already finished that need tested and released prior to taking this on.

The only way to change this would be to open a source version of the module up and search for "Right" or "Left".

Hello Crispy,

I am new to DNN. I worked with CSK (Community Starter Kit). The DNN is more mature and has many options that the CSK don't have. So I decided to work with the DNN. I really need your help with the Forum module.

I downloaded DNN 4.4.0 source files. Where are the forum source files? In which directory?

Do I need to download them from the project page?

How do I compile them? Can I do it with Visual Web Developer Express Edition?

Many thanks for your help
Nir

Nir,

If you are new to DNN, I highly recommend you check out the blogs here, especially Michael Washington's blog because he has lots of great information about introducing developers to DotNetNuke development. You can download source files from the project pages, each project has a download page.

As for the forums specifically, the current release is developed on the 1.1 framework and requires visual studio 2003. The next version is developed in 2.0, but it uses what is called the WAP model and requires visual studio 2005 and service pack 1 (or a pre-service pack add-on) and will not work in Visual Web Developer Express.

"I plan on tackling this issue when the skinning enhancement is underway." -

Does the new forum have the skinning enhancement?
Can I work with a right to left language in the new forum?
Can I set all the forum fields to the right side?
