When looking for logs to diagnose a problem, I saw "Your Hosting Provider Has Disabled the Site Log History Feature For Your Portal" when went to site log.

What does this really mean?

Thanks, Dave

that there are settings by the host in "Host Settings" and "Site Settings" that disable the site log. If you set the log to XML logging for example, the created file cannot be viewed from inside DNN.

Indeed, my "Host Settings/Advanced Settings/Other Settings" had "Site Log History (Days)" set to zero and so I set it to 14, did an update on the page and then did "Restart Application" because not doing so had no effect but unfortunately even after "Restart Application" and then logging off/on I still get the original complaint. I am logging to the database and not to a file. I saw no option for XML style logging however. Thanks, Dave

you also need to change the setting in "Admin-Site Settings-Advanced Settings-Host Settings" for Site Log History.  I had the field you mentioned set to 30 days, but it seemed to only change when I changed the setting listed above.  You should not need to restart the application.

Take a look at this link:

It should show you everything you need in order to do that.

Always glad to help,
Tony
