Hi,

i m new to dnn. i have installed version 4.4.0, visual web developer 2005 express and ms sql server 2005 express.

i m going through the book "Building Websites with VB.NET and DotNetNuke 4" by Daniel N. Egan, Michael A. Washington and Steve Valenzula.

i've created the CoffeeShop module as explained in the book. till now it was working fine. but now i m facing a problem. i m implementing "Entities.Modules.IPortable" and "Entities.Modules.ISearchable" in the "CoffeeShopListingController" class, and modifying the code for the "stubs" generated according to the book. when i start the web site (Ctrl+F5) and navigate to the configuration settings for the "Coffee Shop Listing" module, i see the "Portable" and "Searchable" options disabled. then it is instructed in the book to click on the "Update" link to make the "Portable" and "Searchable" options checked. i click on the "Update" link but the options doesn't get checked.

where m i going wrong ?

thank u

i've come to understand that i need to have a ".dnn" file to add the <businesscontrollerclass> property in order to instruct the module to load the controller class; but i've made the module from scratch, adding all the web user controls and resource files manually as instructed in the book, but its not been instructed how to add a "*.dnn.config" file.

wht do i have to do to add a well formed .dnn.config file ?

Sorry about that. We are updating the book with:

on Page 238 change the second paragraph to:

In the module definition, enter EganEnterprises.CoffeeShopListing.CoffeeShopListingController in the Controller Class box and click the Update link. The module definition will be updated and Portable and Searchable will be checked.
This works in DNN 4.4.0 and higher.
