New team just setting up? Needs time to learn the communication channels?
It appears that the map blog for the team lead was set up in March of 2006, and I can see two postings there, April and December of 2006. This particular thread has been unanswered for 6 1/2 weeks.
I respectfully submit to you that anyone clever enough to code a map module is clever enough to puzzle out how to post a "almost done, maybe another month at most " or "no progress, really swamped at work, will update you next month" status message once a month over the course of a year. That's all it would take.
We all truly appreciate the good work they are doing. But we are customers, and we are telling you what we, as customers need. I for one would prefer getting the module one week later if it meant I had been given a brief status report once a month. Why? Because if I knew when to expect it, I could plan time to take advantage of it. Not knowing means I have to start making plans to free up time once it shows up, which might equate to way more than the 1 calendar week consumed making the status reports. It enables me to help my customers plan. Incidentally, the sample status reports above would have consumed 12 times 2 minutes, or 24 minutes of project time, at most, and that includes the time to fire up the browser, log in, type in one simple sentence, and press update - and would have avoided bad PR.
