I installed dnn4 with asp.net 2 and if I make the dnn4 the default web site then the virtual directories under that web site inherit the asp.net2 settings which seem to break things like my crystal reports which run under the localhost.  I can run dnn4 as a seperate site with a port identifier like localhost:88 but when I point my default website (80) to the dnn4 it breaks other stuff in the virtual directories off that web site.  The error message my server reports is

Source: ASP.NET 2.0.50707.0
Failed to execute the request because the ASP.NET process identity does not have read permissions to the global assembly cache. Error: 0x80131902

I do not understand this error...perhaps someone can explain it or suggest how can I maintain my existing asp1.1 code in my default website and still run dnn4 with asp2 as the default ap[plication? (without using immediate redirection on hitting the default web site of course)

You need to create seperate application pools for each site and/or virtual directory. ASP.Net 1.1 and 2.0 cannot share an application pool.

Thanks I have tried that but the solution was to add to the site an operator: server/aspnet

Perhaps both are required

Thanks again
