hi,

i've installed and setup a DNN (4.0.3) site on a hosting server as a virtual directory. however whenever i visit the site using the www.blahblah.blah address, my SEO people say that something is causing it to redirect to:

www.blahblah.blah/Home/tabid/36/List/1/SortField/6/Default.aspx

and this is in turn could be a problem when google starts trying to index and crawl the site. and that it should stay as www.blahblah.blah without any redirection.

anybody any ideas on how i do this?

i can provide more details if this isn't enough!

so i've researched a bit more on this problem, and it appears that the site is throwing a 302 (moved temporarily) and google is seeing this as a redirect.

i've read some bits about making it do a 301 using IIS, but i dont have access to iis on my hosting server.

the directory is a virtual directory:

www -> mysite

does this ring any information with anyone?

oh, and how can i keep the url when the site is visited (i think this bit was in my original post....)

so when somebody visits www.blahblah.com the url stays that way and doesnt tag all the home/tabid malarky on the end.

so by using

http://gsitecrawler.com/tools/Server-Status.aspx

AND an 'index.asp' page in the root that contains the following code

'
<%@ Language=VBScript %>
<%
Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently"
Response.AddHeader "Location", "http://MYSITE/Home/tabid/36/List/1/SortField/6/Default.aspx"
%>
'

i've managed to get the grawler to recognise the 302 now as a 301.

does anyone know if this will help make my DNN site more search enginge friendly. (oh and you can visit my sit by clicking on the end of the url in my original post. i didn't realise that when you copy and paste an address in this editor it pastes the HREF as well. d'oh.)

okay, basically my SEO company are telling me that i should make the homepage of the script, the first page of my site.

I'm not sure what they mean, in any event they do not recommend any kinds of forwards either 301 or 302.
