Hi... I am brand new to DNN  ... very impressed by the functionality and ease-of-use for someone updating a website  ... we're using 'on-trial' right now to see if it's the right fit for our organization... anyway ....

I was adjusting the user profiles and settings using the ADMIN account and suddenly I started getting an error - I
could no longer go into the Users' Icon - the error message I get is: An error has occured. There's no other details about the type of error nor any error number provided.  I don't even know where to start investigating this problem since the error is so generic. I've tried setting up another admin account and I've removed the need to have any mandatory fields and the error also occurs on the new account.  The only account that does not have this problem is the host account.

Any help would be appreciated ...Thanks.

Second, I have a brief question about the DNN setup. If I set up a page that only certain users can view and that page contains information that I don't want anyone else to see plus it has document links that I also don't want anyone else to see - will I be able to fulfill this need with DNN - or - could someone 'hack' into the folders without going through DNN and view the pages and documents that I was trying to protect?

...Thanks again for any help.

Log in as Host and check the log viewer. You should find a more detailed message.

For your second question.... Short answer is "No.". Long answer is: With the use of Security Roles you can lock down who can view a page or even a PA (module). Because each page is stored in the database there's no way to go to a specific page without using DNN. So if you set a page as View for All Users but made it hidden and only gave certain users the URL for it then Yes I could get to that page if I found out about the URL but if the Security Roles are applied properly then I all I would do is get a blank page. As far as hacking into a folder or documents.... Folder security depends on how you setup your IIS but by default you should be okay. Document security; if I know the path to the document and the name of it then yes I could get to it but if you use the Core Repository it adds a hash to the doucment name when it's uploaded so even if I knew that the document "secret.dog" was stored in the Portals/0/Repository/ directory I wouldn't be able to get at it.

Thank you very much for both answers.

... and ... I'll check the log viewer for a more detailed error description.

...Thanks again.

...So... I checked the logviewer

My provider is running DNN version 4.3.5 and this is what I found in the log viewer...
