I am hoping someone can help. Currently I am developing a collaboration site for 2 companies. Both will have their own set of announcements managed by a representative on each side and will allow registered users to view each others announcements and comment on them. So I have setup 2 blogs for them and have that aspect of it working correctly. For each other to view each others announcements i have placed 2 news modules on the home page each of which is displaying a syndicated rss feed for the respective blogs. The problem is that these feeds only work if the VIEW page permissions on which the blog is residing is set to for ALL USERS, it doesn’t work with the REGISTERED USERS option as desired and shows the following error:

News Feed Is Not Available At This Time. Error message:'>' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 2, position 62.

Anyone have ideas why this is happening. It is extremely vital for me to secure the page as the discussion will end up being confidential. Thanks in advance!

You are seeing the error because the News module is expecting an XML file, but is instead seeing a standard portal login page.

Currently RSS feeds in DNN do not support authentication. This is because by default DNN uses forms authentication and most feed readers do not support any kind of authentication, let alone forms authentication. There is limited support for Basic authentication in some feed readers, but in order to have DNN support it, you will need to enable Basic authentication support in DNN with a provider.
