After some struggles I managed to install 3.3.7 because my hosting doesn't support .NET framework 2.0.  It went through all of the database patches and finally gave me a message stating that the installation was successful and it gave me a link to open my portal.  The link was pointing to default.aspx, which redirected me to http://www.mydomain.com/install/
Since there's no default.aspx in the install directory, it gave me the "unable to display directory index" message.  After that I manually directed my browser to http://www.mydomain.com/install/install.aspx, hoping that it would take me through some configuration process.  Instead I am getting "XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://www.funbound.com/install/install.aspx
Line Number 1, Column 1:"

My install.aspx file is under 1K and it refers to Install.aspx.vb file, which is nowehere to be found.

Why does my default.aspx keep redirecting me to the install directory with no default.aspx?  Where's Install.aspx.vb?  Where do I go from here?

Thank you for your time, any help is appreciated.

I usualy do extensive research before posting to forums, so I don't look stupid.  Now I feel stupid because nobody has replied.  Am I really the only one having this problem?  It's a little hard to beleive.  Come on, guys...

The .vb file is probably not there because you are using the "install version" which only includes compiled code, no source .vb files.

And not to be a wise guy, but I would try to see if your hosting provider can get you going (if they have any experience in DNN).
