if the URL of the site on the new server is exactly the same as the URL of the site on the old server, then you will be fine, otherwise, you would have to manually add the proper alias in the restored db (in table PortalAlias). You would need to do that somewhere between step 2 and 6 (at any rate prior to your first visit to the restored site)

Hi There

I am looking into my table potral Alias
I have 6 sections  Columns  keys  Contrstaints Triggers Indexes and statistics
I figure it is Indexes  but in this section there is a subsection IX_PortailAlias and PK_PortalAlias
Then when you go into each of these sections we get an index properties for each

In which area do I need to add my new website url ( mark.com for  example the old one was abc.com)

Sorry for all the qestions. I know I am almost there  and very close ..
Thank you

Mark

hmm.. seems you are trying to modify the table, instead of entering new data

if you rightclick the tablename in the treeview, you should see an option "open table". for some reason, this option is not the default option...

ok now I am a little confused

Where do I add this alias in the database    ex  old database website is abc.com and new one is mark.com
I know this can be done in dotnetnuke but the problem I have is my server is dead and  all I have is the database and the website directory

thanks

Mark
