Hi

Im running Dnn3 on a couple of websites, I put one of them through the W3C validator and there came up a multitude of errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jamescranes.com they seem to be dnn generated, would upgrading to dnn4 help or is there something else I can do to make it compliant?

Cheers

Upgrading to DNN4 will not help.  There are many threads on this.  Some info can be found at http://xhtmlskins.com/ and http://www.obrienit.se/ .

Hi abbie,

I was able to make my site validate as Xhtml strict, but only after applying many replacement rules using my PageBlaster CDE module.

I also had to change the Html/Text module so that it did not have a span tag around the content.

Dnn4 will also help a little since it is ASP.Net 2.0 because you can set a flag in web.config called xhtmlConformance mode="Strict"

There is also more discussion here on using the PageBlaster module to get your site to validate.

BTW, There is also a new new feature in 4.4 that allows you to set the DOCTYPE through your skin.

Thought I'd also mention that the latest webcontrols release allows the span rendering for the DNNLabelEdit to be rendered as a div through setting the property (RenderAsDiv="true").
