Thanks for doing that Jon.  Where is this setting changed? In the web.config?

Also, shouldn't DNN produce valid markup by default?  Why do we have to find a setting somewhere to make this one piece of the validation puzzle work?

The control was changed, to have a new property as discussed in the forums.  Backwards compatibility is the main reason for this.  Depending on the use for the control the property may be set a certain way.  For example, the Module title most likely will stay rendering as a SPAN (we don't want line breaks here), while the text/html will render as a DIV.  We decided to shy away from the css-hacks that would be required to always render as a div.

Where is this property set?  On the DNNLabelEdit control directly?  If that is the case, then this is hardly a solution as it would require a core change to make it validate and we are already doing that.

Yes it is set on the control.  I have no idea what core change you were offering before.  I'm guessing you completely disabled Edit In Place.  Once the next version of Text/HTML is released this will be fixed.

Hi Jon,

To set the LabelEdit to use a div how do you set it on the control in the text / html module, I added:
RenderAsDiv="true"
to the properties inside the <dnn:DNNLabelEdit tag, but it doesn't work, what is the correct way to set it on the control? - I think it's late at night over here and I'm missing something obvious!

Thanks,
