I used the WH4L installation script to create a fresh install of DNN 4.4.1 on my remote WH4L account, and the resulting DNN site has run successfully for about two weeks. Last night I installed ActiveForums-3.6.8-DNN434-PA and created a sample forum (on a test DNN page to which no one else has access) as well as some sample discussion threads and all seemed fine (I even did a "Restart Application" and all was well).

This morning any attempt to access any DNN page (even those that were running and which do not have the sample forum) produces the following error:

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

What could have happened over the last 12 hours or so to make my entire DNN inaccessible?

The database is accessible from my remote SQL Server Management Studio panel and I can access all the database's tables with no problem.

Any help appreciated.

My guess is that your hosting provider is having a problem.

You called it, Stuart. The ISP reported that they were having a problem with the domain name where the Sql database was located and have now corrected the problem and everything is now working again. And ActiveForums is running very nicely BTW
