Hi There,

I've installed DNN before but it has always been on just one machine -- IIS and SQL Server have been together. This time, I'm attempting an installation where the web server and SQL server are not together, and it's not working.

Here is my web.config (generated by the DNN installer beta):
name="SiteSqlServer"
connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
-->

The server should be Garrigan, the Database should be DotNetNuke2, and the uid and pwd should be dnntest.

I've tried replacing all instances of (local)... with GARRIGAN and changing the associated database names, UID, and PWDs, but I get the same error. Essentially, I get this error regardless of what I try:

Error Installing DotNetNuke
Current Assembly Version: 04.03.04
ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

And yes, I can reach the SQL Server from the IIS server -- infact, this connection string was generated by the Beta Installer, and the beta installer managed to create databases and users on the SQL server when being run from the IIS server.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Nate

could you post a bit more of your web.config?

Nevermind everyone I figured it out -- apparently SQL Server 2k doesn't allow SQL Authentication by default -- Only Windows Authentication. After 4 hours of digging around, enabling SQL Authentication solved the problem. Thank you.
